The Creative Universe 3: Wedding Entertainment

Wedding Entertainment FAQs

Hello brides, grooms, & engaged couples to be!  If you're planning your wedding, you know that every detail matters - and that includes the music!  Luckily, we are here to help you create the perfect atmosphere for your big day.  Wether you’re looking for romantic ceremony songs, fun cocktail hour vibes, chill dinner music, or upbeat tunes/playlists for your reception.  We've got something for everyone.

If you're considering hiring us as your wedding entertainment, you probably have a few questions.  Don’t worry - I've compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you out!

See a quick list of all our wedding services here.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What kind of sound equipment/power/space do you need?

We provide a Bose Pro 32 tower speaker system (the honorary third member of our duo).  We cover roughly a 6ft deep x 10ft wide space, but can squeeze tigher if need be (in a corner for example).

We only require access to one regular grounded outlet.  Close proximity within 15 feet preferred.

(FYI: Outlets/extension cables that aren’t grounded (missing the 3rd prong) are not recommended for equipment safety and will likely cause a humming noise.   If the distance is longer than 30 feet, we recommend asking your venue if they have an industrial extension chord available to use.)

2. How do we/you choose songs?

Song choices are entirely customizable. We can choose, you can choose, or a combination of both!
  • For your ceremony, we highly recommend you choose, as often couples will have a deeper connection to their ceremony song choices. (See song ideas below)
  • For your cocktail hour and/or dinner we typically read the crowd and make song choices based on the vibe in the room or ambience you are looking for.  That being said, we can also create set-lists with you ahead of time from our song list, or depending on your preference for your timeline, you can also choose to have custom playlist music during this time.  Up to you!
  • For your reception, we also have a few options:
    1. Playlist/Dance Music:  Create your very own custom playlist and dance the night away to your favourite tunes!  Our speaker system is powerful enough to fill a typical wedding venue with high-quality sound and keep the energy up at a comfortable reception volume.  While we don't claim to be professional DJs, we will remain at the reception to help you manage the music throughout the night by starting, stopping, skipping, and adjusting the volume as needed.   This cost-effective hourly speaker rental option is perfect for couple looking for a simple solution to their late-night vibes.
    2. Live Requests + Playlist Breaks:  After dinner you could also consider us your very own 'live music jukebox.’  You and your guests can browse our song list with Live Song Requests and choose what songs you'd like to hear on the spot, dedicating them to each other during a special high energy duo performance!  Some of the dedications can get pretty crazy after a few drinks (you write them, I just read them!).  This option can create a unique and interactive reception experience with short playlist breaks if needed throughout the evening.  Recommended for intimate weddings.
    3. Trio or Full Band Reception:  We work with a talented keyboard player as a trio, or add a drummer and bassist too and bring all the 70's and 80's rock vibes to life, along with some punk hits and sing-a-long pop classics for good measure!

3. Do you have a duo song list we can look through?

Yes, please feel free to visit our Live Song Request dropdown menu to see our current song list.  Keep in mind these include all genres of songs we use not only for weddings, but also other events and venues/bars.

For the full band, see our current Rockband song list here.

5. I have a specific song in mind, will you learn new songs?

Yes of course!  For wedding ceremonies and first dances, new songs are often expected!

6. Can you play playlist music during breaks?

Yes, we use AppleMusic playlists during breaks with crossfade (typically if we are playing longer than 2 hours we would take 15 minute breaks between 45 minute sets of live music).  You can create the playlist or send us a link to an existing playlist you'd like us to use.  Or we can always quickly search one up on the day if need be.

Use a different streaming service?  No problem, send us the link and we can always compile an AppleMusic playlist from it.

7. Do you require a vendor meal?

For bookings 3 hours or longer in duration, and/or bookings that run through dinner, we ask that a vendor meal (food and 2 non alcoholic drinks) be provided.   We do not have dietary restrictions and can gladly participate in whatever is being served to your guests.

8. Can we use your microphone?

We offer a microphone rental if needed for your officiant, MC, speeches, and/or announcements for the duration of your booking.  For sanitary reasons and set-up logistics, I prefer not to lend out my personal microphone.

9. How long have you been a duo?

Tyler and I have been performing together for over a decade.  We both have Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Windsor ON, Canada, & Tyler holds a Master's degree from the Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain.  We also share 5 years experience entertaining guests of all ages and music preferences on cruise ships.

10. How far will you travel for a wedding?

We are local to southern Ontario, Canada.  Depending on where we are travelling from the week of a wedding travel fees may apply (not often).  We can also travel nationally, and international weddings are possible, but would need to be booked far enough in advance for us to apply for the appropriate working visa (approx. 1 year).
